Free travel passes under the DiscoverEU scheme
35,500 youngsters will receive Free Europe Travel Passes to discover the European continent for free this summer. The free travel passes will be distributed under the DiscoverEU schemes by the Commission of the EU. The DiscoverEU scheme aims to teach them about history and heritage, make them aware of Europe’s diversity, and help them connect with young people from all over the world.
In April 2024, around 180,000 youngsters applied for the free travel pass. Those who get travel passes will be allowed to travel alone or in a group of five people between July 1, 2024, and September 2025. In addition to these travel passes, the few youngsters will also receive a European Youth Card, which offers discounts on cultural visits, local transportation, sports, accommodation, learning activities, and food.

Eligible criteria for the DiscoverEU Scheme
To be eligible for the DiscoverEU scheme:
- Applicant must be 18 years old
- All the information they provide should be correct
- Applicants must be legal citizens of one of the EU member states

Next Round of Registration
There are two application rounds every year: one in spring and the other in autumn. The next round is expected to be after summer, and a high number of registrations are also expected.
